DRUG DISCOVERY AND DESIGN (DDD) - 2018

School of Pharmacy, RK University, successfully organized two days workshop on 22nd and 23rd December 2018, sponsored by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat, coordinated by Dr. Pravin Tirgar (Professor, School of Pharmacy) and convened by Dr. Devang Pandya (Dy. Director, School of Pharmacy).
The workshop was first of its kind in a Pharmacy institute of Saurashtra, as it provided not one but four hands-on training sessions on various softwares & research tools, as well as talks by experts, for the benefit of research scholars and post graduate students hailing from various Universities across Gujarat.
Mr. Denishbhai Patel, Executive Vice president, RK University, Dr. T. R. Desai, Vice chancellor of RK University and Mr. Virendrabhai Kothari, Managing Director, Espee Formulation Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot inaugurated the workshop and motivated the participants to gain and utilize the knowledge from this workshop
Dr. Mihir Raval, Head of department of Pharmaceutical Science, Saurashtra University, Rajkot delivered Expert Session on Role of multicomponent system in development of Solid Orals.
Dr. M M Soniwala, Associate professor, BK Mody Govt. Pharmacy College gave an informative talk on Basics and advances in Liposomal Drug Delivery System
Dr. Ashutosh Jani, Senior General Manager, Clinical Trial Department, Lambda Therapeutic Research, Ahmedabad, shared expert notes on Study Design and Clinical Trials.
Dr. Vipul Patel, Associate professor, School of Pharmacy, gave hands on training on Design of experiments – Software guide for Formulation Data Analysis and Dr. Pankaj Kapupara, Professor, School of Pharmacy gave hands on training on Drug Design Model. This hands-on training session helped the students to use these softwares to identify Structure activity relationship and formulation development of drugs.
The workshop engaged the participants thoroughly due to its various active learning and hands-on sessions, which received a wonderful response from the participants.
